Darling DIY: Faux Mercury Glass Compote Bowls
This is a fun share for us because this is the project that started it all! A little more than a year ago, I was feeling dejected about just how much all this wedding ish cost and how I had a knack for picking out the most expensive stuff. When I realized those popular and generally pricey compote bowls were basically just a candlestick with a bowl on top (and that those pieces could be found for next to nothing), I was suddenly re-energized by the fact that a little creativity could save me a lot of money and felt like I was back on track to the super-gorj wedding I imagined within a budget we could handle.
I shared my handiwork with Christen and next thing we knew, I was one of her regular contributors over at The Broke-Ass Bride and we had forged a friendship based on a love of weddings, sanity and saving money. She was indispensable in helping me pull off my wedding, and we knew that we could help other people do the same! If you love the idea of DIY but don't know where to start, that's where we come in. In the mean time, check out how to score these fancy (and totally expensive looking) display-worthy pieces for under five bucks each!
